Heavy rain wreaks havoc in Hyderabad

Sudden heavy rain, coupled with lightening and hailstorm late on Tuesday night wreaked havoc uprooting trees, disrupting power supply and plunging several areas into darkness. Complaints of water logging too poured in from many areas.As a precautionary measure, power supply was suspended by electricity department in many places.

An electric pole collapsed on the Taj Krishna road at Erramanzil, electric wires got snapped at GTS Colony near TS Genco Office. G. Srinivasa Kumar complained that two trees were uprooted on the Srinagar Colony- Yousufguda road. Similarly, a huge tree collapsed at Road no.5 Banjara



Hills.

Complaints of water logging poured in from different areas, especially slums in Nandinagar, Singadikunta and Uday Nagar in Banjara Hills. Traffic at Muffakam Jah college moved at snail’s pace following water logging in the area.

In Old city, heavy rain resulted in disruption of power in Saidabad, Madannapet , Yakutpura areas.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao directed Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to deploy emergency teams in different areas across the city. He also appealed to people to call 100 or 040-2111-1111 in emergency.
