A low-pressure area has formed over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on Sunday (June 30). According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad officials, it is likely to become more marked and concentrate into a depression during the next 48 hours. Due to likely westward movement of the low-pressure system, there are chances of widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts of Telangana over the next three-four days.

This impact could be seen in districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheema Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial,

Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Rajanna-Sircilla, Medak, Siddipet, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally and Bhadradri-Kothagudem. As heavy rain is predicted from 1 July to 3 July, officials stated that there are chances of extremely heavy rain (more than 200 mm rainfall per day) in few places on July 2.

IMD, Hyderabad officials alerted district administrations to be alert on July 2 as heavy downpour could lead to overflowing of rivers, breaching of tanks, roads, rail tracks and inundation of agriculture lands in few places in the districts.
