October, which began on a rainy note for the State, continues to stare at another 48 hours of rain. On Friday, the local Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office issued a heavy rainfall warning for the State.
In fact, rains even ended up playing spoilsport for the deciding finale T20 match between India and Australia at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal as the match got cancelled due to the downpour.
‘Thunderstorm associated with gusty winds are very likely to
occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana,’ the IMD weather forecast said.
Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts have received excess rainfall to the tune of 61 percent. According to officials from the department, the rains were attributed to a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal, which is 4.5 km above sea level.
“Under the influence of this system, the State will continue to witness spells of rain,” said Y K Reddy, director (in-charge), IMD Hyderabad.
