In Telangana, heavy rainfall was recorded at many places in the state, which brought much-needed respite from the sweltering heat. Hailstorms and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, struck several places in the state last evening. However, the heavy rain left a trail of destruction across the farm fields, where the mango crop was damaged and paddy brought for procurement at paddy purchase centres was drenched in several areas. Power supply disruptions were also reported from across the state as trees and electric poles were uprooted by the winds. The climate changed suddenly afternoon at several places.
Within a short time,
thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds occurred at several places in Karimnagar, Kumram Bheem, Asifabad, Mulugu, Siddipet, Warangal, and Hyderabad districts. As per the Telangana State Development and Planning Society, Srilingampally in Rangareddy district recorded the highest rainfall of 133.5 mm, and Kukatpally in Medchal Malkajgiri district recorded 117.8 mm of rainfall. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Met Centre informed that heavy rain is likely to occur at some places today in Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhongir, and Nagarkurnool.
