The city had cloudy skies for most part of the day but experienced only light rains: 4.8 mm at Quthbullapur, 4.3 mm at Alwal and 4 mm at Trimulgherry. Some areas received rainfall late evening on Friday. The rain was caused by a low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, the IMD said.
The system is likely to move towards Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Light to moderate rains will continue at isolated places in the next five days,

IMD issued a yellow alert for heavy rains on Friday for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts. The city can expect light to moderate rains or thundershowers.
On Friday, the TS Development Planning Society said, the highest rain in the state was recorded in Ghanpur in Jayashan Bhupalpally at 80.3 mm.
