The southwest monsoon returned to the city with a few spells of heavy rain from Tuesday night. The light showers soon turned into heavy downpour resulting in water logging in different parts of the city.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the Hyderabad recorded an average rainfall of 31.8 mm on Tuesday night. It said that the Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Telangana and that heavy rain was ‘very likely’ to occur in



all the districts.

West Marredpally recorded the highest rainfall of 58.5 mm followed by Asifnagar (58.2 mm), Cherlapally (56.3 mm), BHEL (55.8 mm) and Malkajgiri (53.5 mm), as per the data with the Telangana State Development Planning Society.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rainfall could prevail in few places of Greater Hyderabad for the next three days.
