Thousands of people thronged to Numaish for shopping on the last day of the 79th annual consumer exhibition i.e, on Sunday. Around 40,000 people are learned to have visited the exhibition till 5 pm and the overall count touched to one lakh in a day.
The exhibition which took off on January 1 witnessed over 18 lakh visitors since its inauguration. However, the stall owners faced great loss after the major fire accident at Numaish on January 29. In the view of compensating the loss occurred to the owners, the exhibition society has extended the exhibition to nine days.
According to G V Ranga Reddy, Secretary of Exhibition Society, the number of visitors came down
compared to last year, but considering the damage caused by fire mishap, 18 lakh was still a good number.
“We assure that any untoward incident will not take place next time and we will try to improve the arrangements and take all measures to ensure safety for the upcoming exhibition”, he added.
On the last day of exhibition, shoppers were found moving one stall to another with those offering dry fruits, handicrafts, handmade garments, electronic goods from all over country, had a busy day.
The Numaish which was supposed to end on February 15 had been extended to February 24.
