Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority’s exclusive herbal park near Sanjeeviah Park will be inaugurated on August 15. Spread over two acres, the park with 314 different varieties of herbal plants has been was developed at a cost of Rs1.40 crore.
The park was to be launched a few months back but was delayed due to works being taken up by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), said HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu.
For the convenience of visitors, sufficient parking, toilets and other amenities are being developed at the park. A wide variety of herbal plants has been cultivated in the park and
information boards will be set up at every plant, explaining the importance and other aspects, he said.
The idea is to create awareness among citizens about Ayurveda and promote its importance, said Chiranjeevulu. This apart, an exclusive science park will be developed adjacent to the park closer to the main road. This will be in addition to the existing science park in Sanjeevaiah Park.
Further, efforts are being made to develop greenery around Hussain Sagar and make it a tourist destination. Under this initiative an eco-park will be developed to attract more tourists and works will commence shortly.
