High Court directs lower court to hear complaint against CM Revanth Reddy on daily basis

The Telangana High Court has directed a lower court to accelerate the proceedings on a private complaint filed by a BJP leader against state Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The case has been filed against Reddy over his alleged remarks against the saffron party during the recent Lok Sabha election campaign.

Telangana High Court on Monday ordered the Special Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM) for Excise Cases in Hyderabad to conduct proceedings and decide the complaint as soon as possible, as per the law.

BJP leader filed complaint

Notably, the general secretary of Telangana BJP, Kasam Venkateshwarulu had filed a private complaint in the Special JFCM for Excise cases accusing Revanth Reddy of making a misleading statement



during Lok Sabha election campaigning. According to his complaint, Revanth had said on May 4 that if the BJP would be voted to power, it would change the Constitution and abolish reservations.

According to the petition, the statement was completely false and misleading. After hearing the petition, the Magistrate court had adjourned the complaint to July 6. Following the adjournment, the BJP leader approached the High Court with the criminal petition and challenged the order of the lower court. BJP leader sought direction for the lower court to inquire into his complaint.

Although the High Court disposed of the criminal petition, it directed the magistrate to hear the petition on a day-to-day basis and expedite the proceedings on the complaint.
