As tension escalates between India and Pakistan, a high alert was sounded at Indian Air Force establishments in Secunderabad Cantonment.
Security was beefed up at three major air force stations in Hakimpet, Dundigal and Begumpet. Security was also tightened at the College of Air Warfare (CAW), Secunderabad, and residential quarters located on all the campuses of air force stations.
An official said: “The Local Military Authority (LMA) has intensified patrolling on roads connecting these air force institutions. Apart from these arrangements, a round-the-clock vigil at all the air force institutions is being
maintained.”
Security at the artillery centre, Defence Research and Development Organisation, military colleges of EME, Army College of Dental Sciences, College of Defence Management and NCC directorate has been beefed up after the Pulwama attack. The LMA set up a command and control centre at Telangana Andhra Sub-Area headquarters, Bolarum, where a round-the-clock surveillance is being done through CCTV cameras.
Security on civilian roads like Allahabad Gate (Mahendra Hills), Wellington Road, Gough Road, Ordnance Road and AOC Circle was also strengthened.
