Highest rainfall reports at Charminar in the last 24 hours

Incessant rains continue to be in store in Hyderabad with many parts receiving light rainfall since morning hours of Sunday.

Till 11.30 am, Asifnagar received a rainfall of 6.8 mm, followed by Shaikpet (6.5 mm), Khairatabad (6.3 mm) and Madhapur (6.3 mm), according to Telangana State Development Planning Society.

Till 6 pm on Sunday, Asifnagar received a rainfall of 10.8 mm, followed by Madhapur (9.3 mm), Khairatabad (9 mm) and Film Nagar (8.3 mm), according to Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).

On Saturday, the average rainfall recorded in the city was 31.6 mm. The impact based weather forecast by the Meteorological Department predicted the possibility of water pooling on roads and low lying areas in many places along with traffic congestion at most locations in Hyderabad on Monday.

During the last 24 hours,



highest rainfall in Greater Hyderabad was reported at Charminar (47.8 mm) and across the State, Venkatapuram in Mulugu witnessed extremely heavy rainfall of 227.5 mm.

Apart from Hyderabad, moderate to heavy rain lashed several districts including Khammam, Warangal Rural, Siddipet, Peddapalli, Asifabad, Mancherial and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri.

“Yesterday’s well-marked low pressure area now lies as a low pressure area over south Jharkhand and neighborhood. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and weaken further during the next 24 hours. Convergence of strong moist southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea are expected to continue over the State during next two days,” said an official with TSDPS.

The weather warning with Met department indicated heavy rainfall likely to occur over parts of the State on Monday too.
