BJP Himayatnagar corporator Mahalakshmi and her husband Raman Goud, also a BJP leader, joined the BRS on Friday., even as nine of their colleagues were examining their options.
These nine BJP corporators, who had aspired for Assembly election tickets, assembled at a hotel in Himayatnagar on Friday to decide next steps. They included corporators from wards located in LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, Rajendranagar and Kukatpally.
"Mahalakshmi Goud was in our 10-member group. We had asked her to wait for a few days but she refused and joined the BRS," said a
corporator.
These corporators had gone to Delhi to lobby their cause with the party leadership in the national capital. "In Delhi, we realised that our applications seeking a MLA ticket were not even considered by the Telangana BJP. With the Congress, we have ideological differences. We have not decided whether we will join the BRS or contest independents," said a corporator.
Another corporator said that they were unable to meet BJP president J.P. Nadda and called on Sunil Bansal, BJP general secretary.
