The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has decided to set up toilets along the Outer Ring Road at designated locations to help commuters. The municipal authorities so far did not set up ay toilet along the 158 kilometre stretch claiming that vehicles were not supposed to stop on the expressway.
A senior HMDA official said, “The municipal authority did not construct toilets along 158 kilometre ORR since stopping of vehicles was prohibited in the access controlled expressway. However, the HMDA has been looking for
appropriate locations where vehicles can be stopped and the passengers can use the toilet facility.”
The official said that the HMDA would construct at least 50 toilet complexes along the ORR stretch. He said that a final number would be announced after finding suitable locations in couple of days.
He said the municipal authority would float tenders once feasible locations were identified and the toilet construction would be completed within six months.
