In a latest development sources have confirmed that Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is to issue land acquisition notices for 1000 properties which have been identified, for taking up the construction work of the 5.5 km long corridor connecting MGBS-Imlibun to Falaknuma. This corridor was originally part of the phase-1 of metro on which work was not taken up even years after construction of 67 Km of metro was completed and operations commenced.

Multiple

reasons were cited for the work to be delayed including presence of religious and heritage structures, demand for change of route and challenges in property acquisitions. It is hoped that this time, there has been an alignment of all the stakeholders involved to tackle these to the satisfaction of all involved to ensure that a sizable chunk of the citizens are not denied of metro connectivity for long.
