The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has decided to initiate stringent action on commercial water connection bill defaulters.

To implement the revenue generation programme, the water board will have an exclusive mobile app developed, the water connections will be geo-tagged and reminders will be sent to defaulters over the phone. The staffers will go around localities to inspect the water connections in the buildings to upload the details in the mobile app.

The water board has set a deadline of three months and decided to encourage online bill payments and SMS and WhatsApp texts will also be sent till the dues are cleared.

HMWS&SB in a press release said that by the end of October, dues from all the owners of commercial connections (40 mm pipeline) will be collected and within three months officials will ensure all the remaining payments were cleared by defaulters.

At a meeting on revenue generation activity held here on Wednesday, HMWS&SB Managing Director Dana Kishore instructed the officials to stop water supply to the establishments that have bills pending since the time connection was availed. “Stringent action will be taken against the officials/staffers who show lack of interest in the revenue generation programme,” he cautioned.
