The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) had appealed to the citizens to boil and filter the water or use any disinfection method, before consuming the drinking water.
The HMWSSB officials said 270 MGD of treated water was being supplied by drawing the water from foreshore of Nagarjunasagar Akkampally balancing reservoir as source to Hyderabad.
There have been fresh heavy inflows to Nagarjunasagar from River Krishna and the raw water turbidity increased heavily. Though, treated water was being supplied to the city, it may appear slightly colored with turbidity,
which is well within the permissible limits, HMWSSB officials.
“Water is suitable for all purposes and residents have to boil and filter the water or any disinfection method may be used before using it for drinking purpose,” said a senior official from the city water board.
In this connection the Quality Assurance and Testing wing of HMWSSB is conducting a special drive of water quality monitoring by deploying the sample collectors in all the Operation and Maintenance divisions and intensively checking the water quality, he added.
