The ward committee nominations for four wards was held up due to rivalry between local MLAs and Corporators of the GHMC, while two Congress corporators staged a protest demonstration in front of mayor’s chambers for not including the members of their choice.
For the remaining 146 wards, nearly 1,432 ward committee members were nominated as the process went off smoothly during the GHMC special council meeting held here on Saturday thanks to the secret understanding reached among MLAs, MPs and corporators except for four wards.
The four wards for which the ward committee nominations were postponed on technical grounds were Khairatabad, Mailardevpally, Vengal Rao Nagar and Miyapur. The council meeting which was to start at 10.30 am could not start till 1 pm as MLAs and corporators were slugging it out in finalising their choice of the members. Due to the intervention of mayor, MLAs and MPs, some ruling corporators were forced to abide by

their orders.
The Khairatabad ward members could not be nominated due to differences between MLA Chintala Ramchandra Reddy and Khiaratabad corporator P Vijaya Reddy.  Mailardevpally nomination was held up due differences between MLA T Prakash Goud and corporator T Srinivas Reddy.
The ward members could not be nominated for Vengalrao Nagar ward due to differences between MLA Maganti Gopinath and corporator V V Manohar and ward members for Miyapur ward could not be nominated due to disagreement between MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and corporator Meka Ramesh.
Congress corporators Mettu Shanker Yadav (Patancheru) and Shanthi Saizen Shekar (Nacharam) staged a protest demonstration in front of the mayor’s chamber for not giving preference to the list submitted by them.
Later, speaking to reporters, mayor B Rammohan said  the GHMC will issue a notification with regard to formation of area committees.
