A 31-year-old Hyderabadi, Mohammed Mustafa Shareef, working as a delivery agent in Florida, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a swimming pool in Florida on October 2 after he went to deliver a parcel. His family members residing at RCI Balapur suspected foul play behind his death and demanded an investigation.
Shareef is survived by his wife Tahera Banu and two children, two-year-old Mohammed Shezad and five-month-old Mohammed Hamza.
"He had gone to deliver a parcel at a party. An hour later his body was found floating in the swimming pool near the party area," Mustafa’s brother Mohammed Nawaz Sharif told.
Mustafa went to Florida in mid-December 2022 on a dependent visa; his wife Tahera Banu is a US citizen. Since then he was working as a delivery agent.
"The Florida police are not allowing my sister in-law and my brothers working there to even identify his body. They are asking them to go for the funeral rites on Wednesday," he said.

Banu and Mustafa’s brother visited the swimming pool where Mustafa’s body was found floating and found that there are no CCTV cameras installed there.
"I inquired with the doctors here they confirmed that it takes at least three to four hours for the body to float to the surface in a drowning case, but Mustafa’s body, according to the locals and the parcel service incharge, was found floating 50 minutes after he delivered the parcel, I strongly suspect that there is a foul play and the police there is concealing the facts from the family," Nawaz said.
While Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi reached out to the family and assured them that he would look into the matter and find out what exactly happened, the family urged external affairs minister Dr S. Jaishankar to direct the Indian embassy in the US to assist the family. They also urged for an emergency visa to Shareef’s parents who want to see him for one last time.
