Due to a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, the city received light to moderate overnight showers on Friday and Saturday. The rains continued even in the early hours of Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the city and a few other districts for Saturday.
Several localities in the city, including Hayathnagar, Saidabad, Bandlaguda, Charminar and Khairatabad, witnessed light showers upto 5.5 mm. Saroornagar received the highest overnight rainfall of 6.3 mm; whereas Amberpet recorded the highest rainfall of 4 mm on Saturday morning.
The maximum temperature was 23 degree Celsius. The city is expected to witness
a thick cloud cover for a few more days.
According to the forecast by the Telangana State Development Planning Society, most parts of the city will receive up to 2.5 mm rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. However, a few places including Uppal, Masab Tank, Mehedipatnam, Jubilee Hills, LB Nagar, Saroornagar and Hayathnagar, are likely to receive moderate rainfall upto 15.6 mm.
Many districts are also receiving light to moderate rainfall. Districts including Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhongir, Suryapet, Nagarkurnool and Jagtial received rainfall upto 20.8 mm. Vatwarlapally in Nagarkurnool received the highest rainfall of 21.8 mm.
