The cold wave conditions that gripped Hyderabad and suburbs for the last two days continued. Though the mercury, which plummeted, recovered on Friday, the minimum temperature in suburban areas of BHEL hovered around single digit.
The night temperature of 6.6°C at BHEL on Friday rose slightly to settle around 7.8°C on Saturday night, still making it the coldest area in the city. According to Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the minimum at BHEL was six notches lower than the normal minimum temperature.
Since the beginning of winter, the temperatures in BHEL consistently remained the lowest in the city. The
Hyderabad’s average minimum temperature recorded by India Meteorological Department (IMD) was 10.7°C.
As temperatures stayed below the normal minimum, IMD issued cold wave warning for Sunday and Monday. “Night time temperatures are likely to drop further in the days to come and the season is going to be harsher. The temperature is plummeting at nights as clear sky prevails during the day,” a senior IMD official said.
The forecast with IMD shows that there would be cloudy sky with haze and the minimum temperature would hover around 10°C to 11°C for the next few days.
