Hyderabad High Court issued instruction to Govt. of Telangana for constituting separate Shia Wakf Board within 6 weeks. On the representation made by Anjuman Ulavi Shia Imamia Asna Ashari. Mr. Syed Waheeduddin Haider had filed an application on behalf of this organization. After hearing the petition, Justice A.V. Sesha Sai issued these interim orders. Mr. P. Venugopal, Senior Advocate pleaded on behalf of the petitioner.
The Advocate informed the court that the organization had filed petitions on 1st December and 15th December making representation for
constituting separate Shia Wakf Board. He contended that as per the Wakf Act. if there are more than 15% Wakf properties belonging to a separate sect, separate Wakf Board could be constituted. He informed that court that there are nearly 33% Wakf properties belong to Shia Wakf. It is therefore necessary to constitute separate Shia Wakf Board.
The honorable judge issued orders to Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare for constituting separate Shia Wakf Board within 6 weeks. The petitioner had also included Election Officer of Wakf Board as a party.
