Progressive cyclonic circulations are expected to bring moderate rains to the entire Telangana state over the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

"A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal between 4.5 and 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height and under its influence, a low-pressure area is very likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around August 18," the IMD said.

Officials said that under the influence of the weather systems, some areas of the state will experience light to moderate rains, with thundershowers, over the next five days.

On Wednesday, heavy rain was recorded in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district and light rain in Jangaon and Yadadri Bhuvangiri

districts.

Weather expert T. Balaji tweeted a weather forecast: "Due to Upper Air Circulation there will be a three day spell of good rains in the state. Rains will increase from August 18 and peak on August 19 and gradually reduce after August 20. North and East Telangana will receive heavy rains and Hyderabad as well as South Telangana will receive light to moderate rains (sic)".

A yellow warning has been issued for the coming days as heavy rains are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, Warangal and Hanamkonda.

The Hyderabad city is also likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with north-westerly surface winds of 6-10 kmph.
