The Hyderabad Literary Festival is all set to commence at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet on Friday.
The three-day fest, a popular event in the city calendar, is to be inaugurated by Chief Secretary SP Singh accompanied by Sahitya Akademi vice-president Chandrashekhara Kambara, Spanish Embassy Deputy Head Eduardo Sanchez Moreno and Spanish Embassy cultural attaché Ignacio Vitorica Hamilton.
According to the organisers, the literary festival will take off a plenary session on Kannada literature, Kannada being the language in focus this
year. And with Spain being the guest nation, dozens of Spanish writers and artistes are scheduled to showcase the literary and cultural exuberance of the European nation, according to the HLF organisers. Festival co-director Ajay Gandhi said prominent public figures such as Sonal Mansingh, Perumal Murugan, Rajdeep Sardesai and Aruna Roy will participate in this edition.
“Some of the cultural performances lined up are incredibly intense. Including workshops, stage talks and performances, we have about 150 delegates this time,” he said.
