Hyderabad man with terror links arrested

HYDERABAD: A Hyderabad man, who was allegedly involved in a conspiracy to eliminate BJP leaders, was arrested by the city Central Crime Station police on Friday, after he was deported from Saudi Arabia.
Syed Zaker Raheem, a resident of Saidabad and brother-in-law of Farhathullah Ghori, one of the most wanted terrorists, was part of a conspiracy to eliminate BJP leaders in Hyderabad in 2004. After their failed attempt, Ghori fled to Pakistan while Raheem fled to Saudi and was living in Riyadh.

With specific inputs, Raheem was arrested by the Saudi authorities in May 2016 and was sent to jail. On January 19, he was deported to New Delhi from where Raheem was taken into custody by the CCS police and brought to Hyderabad on Friday.

absconding since then in a case booked by the CCS police under Section 153 A ( Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 120 B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy) of IPC , section 25 of Indian Arms Act and section 5 of Explosive Substances Act

Raheem, Ghori and others had planned to murder BJP leaders N Indrasena Reddy and Baddam Bal Reddy in 2004. With intelligence inputs, the police foiled their plan.
“Raheem’s brother-in-law Farhathullah Ghori is a wanted terrorist. He worked for Lashkar-e-Taeba and is currently residing in Pakistan. Raheem has close association with Ghori and was part of the conspiracy in Hyderabad,” police said.
