Hyderabad is likely to have a heli-taxi service. And if things happen as planned, the Hussain Sagar waters will be turned into a sea plane hub. In this direction, helicopter services provider Pawan Hans India has begun talks with the Telangana government, according to its chairman and managing director Dr BP Sharma.
“The heli-taxi concept is new and we are keen on offering it in Hyderabad,” he said, adding that it wants to connect the industrial corridors to each other or to airport.
However, the onus will be on the city administration to create the
required infrastructure for the heli-taxis to take off and land. Hyderabad, like Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and other metros, offers immense potential for heli-taxis, which can revolutionise the intra-city connectivity.
“The seaplane will have the capability of landing in water and on land and therefore Hussain Sagar can be an ideal destination. However, we have to consider aspects like the height at which these aircrafts can be flown,” he said, adding that seaplanes can be an alternate mode of transport in cities with riverfront in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
