After the launch of Metro’s commercial operations on the Jubilee Bus station–Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station route, the overall patronage on the three corridors escalated to 4.47 lakh on Monday. Nearly 34,000 passengers utilised Metro services on the JBS-MGBS route.

The launch of the new route offers yet another public transportation option for those shuttling between Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Metro officials are positive about the patronage increasing further on the route.
It is too early and it will take a month for patronage to pick up on the corridor, said Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director, NVS Reddy.

The 11-km distance from JBS to MGBS is being covered in about 16 minutes as against the 45 minutes journey by road.

JBS-MGBS section is part of the JBS-Falaknuma corridor and there are stations at JBS-Parade Grounds, Secunderabad West, Gandhi Hospital, Musheerabad, RTC crossroads, Chikkadpally, Narayanguda, Sultan Bazar and MGBS enroute.

Another interesting aspect of the Metro patronage is the steady rise in the QR code users. Till recently, the number of passengers using QR code facility used to be about 20,000, which has gone up to 47,000, Reddy pointed out.

Among the 4.47 lakh patronage registered on Monday, the highest footfall of 26,000 was recorded at Ameerpet station followed by LB Nagar (24,000), Raidurg (22,000), Miyapur (19,000), Kukatpally Housing Board (17,000) and Secunderabad East (15,000).
