Hyderabad Metro stations get green award

The Centre recognises environmental degradation and climate change as a serious threat to the nation, minister of state for housing Hardeep Singh Puri at the Green Building Congress commenced at HICC on Thursday.

India’s first green building rating system for net zero energy buildings (NZEB) was launched. This is the first step toward implementing net zero (across water, energy, and waste) buildings in India. This is being done in collaboration with the World Green Building Council and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

few unique green building projects received awards from the minister. Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy and L&T’s K.V.B Reddy the received MRTS platinum award for the elevated stations at Rasoolpura, Paradise and Prakashnagar.

He also inaugurated an exhibition which showcases over 100 green building products and technologies related to homes and commercial buildings. Later this year, housing ministry will formally launch global green technology challenge where participants from all across the world will participate.
