Passengers travelling in Hyderabad Metro Rail on Nagole – Hitec City route were subjected to inconvenience on Tuesday evening as services on the route were disrupted due to technical snags. Passengers were evacuated through the emergency exit of a Metro train just before Ameerpet station after services were disrupted around 6.30 pm on the route.
L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited tweeted: “We have a disruption in our blue line due to a technical failure. We will start our services in 15 minutes. We regret the inconvenience caused.” They later tweeted that the services had resumed, but at lesser frequency.
However, passengers complained that services were not restored to normal
operations even at 9.30 pm and that they were denied entry into Metro stations at quite a few places.
Several other passengers tweeted videos of them being evacuated from trains as well.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy said the pantograph of a train, which draws power from the overhead electrical traction system got entangled with an overhead electrical line between Begumpet and Ameerpet stations on the up line. Trains are being run on the other line in single line method between Begumpet and Jubilee Hills checkpost. Restoration was being done carefully, since the other line was live with high voltage, he added.
