The city was in for a spell of short-lived but much required pre-monsoon showers, on Friday. According to officials from the Indian
Meteorological Department, these showers were a result of a trough spanning over Telangana and culminating at the Cape Comorin.
“We had issued a heavy rainfall and thunderstorm warning for a few districts in the state, on April 27. The cloud cover from these areas could have prompted the showers
in isolated parts of the city,“ said an official from IMD, Hyderabad. As per the warning thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds were likely to occur in Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam and Warangal districts.
On Friday, official data showed that Amberpet received the highest rainfall with 3.5 millimetres, while Nampally received 2.5 millimetres of rain. The total rainfall recorded from Srinagar Colony stood at 0.25 millimetres.
