Aditya, a 25-year-old Indian student from the city is a critical condition after he was struck by a car in Philadelphia, United States, while crossing the road.
According to available information, Aditya was hit by the car in the wee hours of Saturday resulting in severe head injuries with brain contusions and clots. He is currently receiving critical treatment at Temple University Hospital, and his recovery is expected to require extensive care, with costs projected to reach around $250,000.
According to a post shared by his friend Shashidhar Dumpa on gofundme.com, Aditya, who recently completed his master’s degree at Florida State University was living with friends in Delaware, while his parents were in India. He recently cleared his interview with Amazon and was eagerly awaiting on his offer letter.
“However, with no medical insurance and his
family unable to support these overwhelming medical expenses, Aditya urgently needs financial assistance to continue his treatment and get the care he needs for a full recovery,” Dumpa’s post said.
The gofundme.com campaign has so far raised over $67,000.
Local Philadelphia media reports indicated that he was hit by a car and the driver fled in North Philadelphia.
News reports quoted police saying that the hit-and-run crash happened just after 2:45 a.m. on the 900 block of Watts Street. The victim was crossing the street when he was hit by a white car driving southbound on Watts Street, police said.
After the collision, the driver sped off heading southbound on Watts Street toward Parrish Street, according to police. Investigators believe the car involved could have been a Jeep.
