The southwest monsoon has been weak over Telangana resulting in increasing Mercury levels from 26 degree Celsius on Tuesday to 31 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

Meteorologists predict that the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase only after July 21. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, occurrence of a well-marked low-pressure area over Odisha that is moving away in the northwest direction has reduced the intensity of rainfall over Telangana. None of the districts in Telangana received over five cm of rainfall on



Thursday.

The Telangana State Development and Planning Society figures reveal that cumulative rainfall from June 1 to July 18 in Hyderabad is deficient by 17%. While the city should have received seasonal rainfall of 199.5mm so far, it has received only 164.9mm.

Meteorologists predict that the situation is expected to improve with a a low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal & neighborhood around July 21 following which spell of rainfall is expected in all parts of Telangana.
