Residents of Greater Hyderabad can expect resumption of daily water supply from early-December thanks to heavy inflows in reservoirs following heavy rains in the last few month, HMWS&SB officials said. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board supplied water daily water till 2012 but switched over to alternate day supply after the erstwhile MCH area was brought under the water board.
The water board currently supplies 387 million gallons
of water a day (MGD) to over 8.90 lakh connections on alternate days in Greater Hyderabad, and threefour days a week in GHMC peripheral circles.
The plan is to also start on a pilot basis daily supply to KPHB and Bhagyanagar sections where the water board will try out SMS alerts to inform customers of water supply timings. "Subsequently , all O&M divisions barring GHMC peripherals will receive water supply daily ," a water board official said.
