Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is launching 33 more such clinics in different parts of the city shortly.
With the addition of 33 Basti Dawakhanas, the total tally of these clinics is set to go up to 200 in municipal corporation limits. GHMC has set up 123 clinics in the first phase and 44 clinics in the second phase and efforts are onto launch 33 more shortly for the convenience of people, especially those from low income groups.
In order to provide basic medical treatment to more people in local areas, GHMC is providing buildings and other basic amenities to set up more Basti Dawakhanas, said GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar.
As per the orders of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the civic body along with Health and Family Welfare Department is providing
medical facilities to the poor and middle class people in the local areas. As part of this initiative launched in 2019, a total of 123 Basti Dawakhanas were established in GHMC areas.
In addition to these, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao directed the municipal corporation to provide two Basti Dawakhanas in each division.
Accordingly, the municipal corporation is providing buildings and basic amenities to establish 33 more Basti Dawakhanas in the city, Lokesh Kumar said.
Basti Dawakhanas are currently offering free consultation, diagnostics, vaccination and medicines to lakhs of people. The government has plans to ensure the network of these clinics grows to have 350 facilities across Hyderabad.
