Hyderabad: In a bid to decongest the city, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department will take up works on two new flyovers at Amberpet and Balanagar.
Replying to a question raised in the Legislative Council, MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Departments would be executing the flyover works at Amberpet.
“The flyover will be 1.6 km in length. Since the existing road width is 18 metres, we propose to expand it to 30 metres. A total of 281 properties would be acquired for the execution of the project,” he
said.
The total extent of land required is 22,411.42 square yards. The cost of the project would be Rs 436. 71 crore, of which Rs.317 crore would be for land acquisition. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs.67 crore. The remaining Rs.250 crore required for the land acquisition would be borne by the State government or GHMC.
Also, GHMC and HMDA would be constructing a flyover at Balanagar with a cost of Rs 387 crore.
“The length of the flyover would be around 2.2 km, and it would be 60 feet wide. A total of 365 properties would be acquired for the completion of the project,” he said.
