Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) departments of the Telangana Government, said, “As on
today there are two designated smart cities (Hyderabad and Warangal) and another 10 cities in Telangana for infrastructure improvement under the Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) programmes. The Central Government has approved a budget of $8.3 billion for the first phase of the AMRUT project. Around $1.05 million was allocated to Telangana for administrative and office expenses (A&OE) in order to prepare the Service Level Improvement Plan (SLIP) / capacity building. In July 2015, the Ministry of Urban Development of Government of India released $0.46 million as advance for the 11 cities under AMRUT guidelines. I am sure this Summit will debate and plug loopholes, if any, apart from showcasing smart solutions going forward.”
