Hyderabad is getting ready to join in the celebration this coming Thursday,as the world gears up to observe the fourth International Day of Yoga on June 21.

Preparations are on in full swing with several events lined up across the city to mark the day. Gachibowli stadium will be the hub of all activity, where the department of Ayush, Telangana government, will hold a mass yoga demonstration from 7am to 8am.

“Gachibowli stadium will be the ground zero of the International Yoga Day celebration. We are expecting participation of 4,000 yoga enthusiasts on that day,” said Dr A Malathi Syamala, director, in-charge,



Vemana Yoga Research Institute (VYRI) - a unit of Telangana Yogahyana Parishad.

The participants will perform coordinated sets of the common yoga protocol in harmony at the stadium, followed by a seminar on how yoga is helpful in preventing and controlling diabetes.

In addition, Bhratiya Prani Mitra Sangh, along with Jeevraksha Trust and other animal welfare organisations will hold yoga sessions from 8am to 9am for school students and other health enthusiasts at Exhibition Grounds on June 21. Around 2,000 students are expected to take part in the celebration.
