The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a total of 2,18,650 cases against traffic violators in the last 24 days, from August 23 to September 16.
According to officials, in order to increase road safety and reduce road fatalities, the Hyderabad Traffic Police has been conducting a Special Contact Enforcement drive at various places across the city to keep a check on violations committed by citizens.
Traffic police officials said cadres of all the 25 traffic police
stations in the city have formed teams, each headed by either an Inspector or a Sub-Inspector rank officer. The enforcement was conducted during non-peak hours to avoid inconvenience to commuters and other motorists.
Officials said they mainly focused on violations including triple riding, wrong side driving, driving without helmet, cell phone driving, violations by auto-rickshaw drivers and irregular number plates among others.
