Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director M. Dana Kishore on Monday suspended deputy general manager K. Ravinder after it came to light that irregularities in water bills had caused the corporation a loss of Rs 1.96 core.
It was stated that the loss was caused by the negligence of the official.
The action comes at a time when the Water Board is struggling
with losses and trying novel methods to raise funds.
The loss to the Water Board was unearthed during an investigation where it was found that water supplied to 381 people from 2015 to 2018 was not being billed according to the standards.
Vigilance officers who carried out the check attributed the loss to the negligence on the part of Mr Ravinder.
