Syeda Lulu Minhaj, the Hyderabadi woman who was found starving in Chicago, went missing from the hospital where she had been receiving medical treatment for the past three days.

Joanna Dhanabalan, development worker based in Chicago, had informed Minjah's family that she was last seen in a hospital in Wilson Avenue, Chicago. "She left the hospital she was admitted in and is yet to be found after that. Joanna and her team have combed the areas including churches and soup kitchens in Sheridan, Broadway in Chicago," BRS leader Khaleequr Rahman, who had been helping the family trace Minhaj, said in a

tweet.

Minjah's mother Fathima said that she was waiting for the embassy to revert to her letter and request about arranging her visit to Chicago. "I was told she is not mentally sound and in deep depression. I wonder about the various thoughts in her mind that made her want to leave treatment. I'm sure she'll be a little better when I'm with her," she said.

According to Rahman's sources, the police are working on locating her and talks with the Consulate are underway. "Joanna's team is said to be mobilising the local Indian diaspora in the search efforts," he informed.
