With the HYDRAA receiving about 150 complaints every day and various state government departments seeking its assistance, the agency has decided to engage an agency exclusively to demolish the structures. “In the first week of September, we received around 150 complaints every day. The number was approximately the same in August too,” said a HYDRAA official. “We are presently dependent on a private contractor.
We are looking for an agency that has hydraulic boom and can reach at least five floors,” the official said. The time taken for demolition is also one of the criteria: The demolition of a ground+five floor structure with a total area of 40,000 square feet should be completed in five hours. The agency must have executed at least one demolition project with a minimum cost of Rs 1 crore in the state. Preference will be given to bidders with experience in demolishing structures without adjacent buildings being damaged.
