Income Tax (I-T) sleuths on Wednesday cornered Telangana Congress working president A Revanth Reddy over cash for-vote money source of Rs 50 lakh seized by ACB then. AP Intelligence sleuths were also spotted at Ayakar Bhavan, collecting information on the probe.
Sources said the questioning of Revanth Reddy and his aide R Uday Simha was video-recorded.
Revanth was charge-sheeted by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on the cash for vote scam that took place in 2015 when then
TDP leader tried to buy the vote of Anglo Indian nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson by paying Rs 50 lakh advance. The deal was struck at Rs 5 crore.
I-T sleuths on Wednesday questioned Revanth on how the accused planned to pay Rs 4.5 crore. Speaking to TOI, R Uday Simha said, “Some months ago, income tax department sent a letter to Revanth Reddy, asking for the source of Rs 50 lakh. He submitted his reply. Again, they called us for questioning.”
