Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday waded into the controversy over Opposition’s demands to invite President Draupadi Murmu to inaugurate the new Parliament House building, saying political parties that were questioning the NDA government’s plans have been silent when Governors were ignored by some state governments for similar events.
Speaking at an event related to the Parliament House inauguration, Dr Soundararajan said parties running
governments in some states were shedding crocodile tears that the Constitutional head is not being invited to inaugurate the Parliament House building.
"For instance, in Telangana, a big new Secretariat was inaugurated but I as the Governor did not receive any invite. If the opposition says the President is a non-political person, why don’t they say the same for a Governor," Dr Soundararajan said.
