The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised its forecast for the next few days for Telangana State till this coming Sunday.
Against its Tuesday’s prediction of ‘likely’ light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in State till Saturday, the IMD on Wednesday predicted that such rains were ‘very likely’ till Sunday.
However, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the State did receive some respite from the incessant rains that have been lashing parts of the State.
Against the rainfall figures that were in double digits
over several districts in the past few days, in 24 hours ending on Wednesday morning, the heaviest rainfall recorded was put at 2cm at Ranjal in Nizamabad district followed by 1cm each in Nizamabad town, Yedapalle and Navipet. The other places to register a similar rainfall were Narayanpet in Mahbubnagar district and Ghattu in Jogulamba Gadwal districts.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area a cyclonic circulation that currently lies over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood areas is likely to develop into a low-pressure area by August 26, the IMD said.
