In Telangana, the incessant rain lashing several parts of the state for the past 4-5 days, caused flooding of low-lying areas in many districts. Hundreds of people are stranded. The situation is severe especially in north and east Telangana districts.
Rivers and rivulets are on spate while lakes and tanks are brimming. Many streams are overflowing on to the roads disrupting vehicular traffic at many places. Many residential areas are flooded, especially in Warangal Urban and Rural districts, while Karimnagar, Khammam and Mulugu districts witnessed severe flooding.
The swollen River Godavari is flowing at 58.1 feet against the danger level 53 feet at Bhadrachalam this morning posing severe threat of flooding many villages, especially those on both the sides of the river.
The river is on full spate due to incessant rains in the catchment areas for the past few days. The authorities are round the clock monitoring the situation and people living in low lying areas have been
evacuated.
In Khammam district, the swollen Munneru river disrupted the inter-State road link with Andhra Pradesh as a portion of the Khammam-Bonakal main road got damaged.
In Warangal, residential colonies in urban areas have been badly flooded. Three Disaster Management Teams along with two boats and other relief material, have been sent from Hyderabad to Warangal city to take up relief operations.
In Mulugu district, over 300 houses got damaged due to rains. In Hyderabad, water levels the Hussain Sagar lake reached to its brim due to continuous rains for the past 4 days and the local authorities have released water as the tank reached to its full capacity and heavy inflows continue.
Meanwhile, the authorities at all districts and municipal areas have been put on high as the Met officials forecast heavy rains for two more days and another low-pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal by Wednesday.
