Income-tax officials conducted raids on residences of Alampur Congress candidate Sampath Kumar and associates of Narayanpet BRS nominee S. Rajender Reddy and reportedly seized unaccounted money.
In Palair, I-T officials seized Rs.3.5 crore cash from a house belonging to a woman identified as Ch Aruna. Based on a tip-off, the IT officials conducted raids on a residence located at Sriramnagar in Palair constituency. However, the residents tried to object to the I-T officials searching the residence. The officials broke open the doors of the residence and found the unaccounted cash of Rs.3.5 crore.
It was reported that a construction firm shifted the cash to the place for allegedly spending in elections. The I-T officials seized the cash and served notices.
In another incident, the I-T officials conducted
raids on Alampur Congress candidate Sampath Kumar's residence located at Shantinagar of Vaddepalli mandal in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
The I-T officials along with Election Commission flying squads conducted the raids by searching Sampath Kumar's residence. The family members of Sampath Kumar asked the officials to show any authorised letter for conducting searches. However, the I-T officials conducted searches and collected documents.
In Narayanpet, the I-T officials conducted raids on the residences of close associates of Narayanpet BRS candidate S. Rajender Reddy suspecting that huge cash was dumped for distribution to voters in the elections. The I-T officials searched at least four houses of Rajender's associates and verified the phone's data and bank accounts details.
