An Indian rock python, measuring eight feet in length and weighing 20 kg, was rescued from the Osmansagar crest gates by Friends of Snakes Society (FOS) and workers of HMWSSB.

The python was trapped in the crest gates and was struggling to release itself, which was spotted by the water board staff.

The HMWSSB officials immediately made a distress call to Dakarapu Vara

Prasad, a member of FOS, Hyderabad. The snake expert from FOS rushed to the spot and noticed the snake coiled around the dam’s gate.

With support from the dam workers, he climbed the dam and rescued the reptile.

The snake has been shifted to the Snake Rescue Centre at Bowrampet for care and subsequent relocation.
