Nizamabad: Forest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Friday released water to the SRSP Saraswathi canal for Vanakalam crops.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appealed to farmers to utilise irrigation waters carefully. He offered poojas at the canal along with Nirmal district public representatives, and later switched on and released 300 cusecs of water to Saraswathi canal.
 
He said that this year SRSP was having 36.5 TMC water and was receiving nearly 7,000 cusecs inflows. This water is sufficient for Vanakalam crops in Nirmal district. Release of water to 35,000 acres in this rainy season will help



tail-end areas and farmers should utilise the water by filling tanks.

In this rainy season, SRSP got 10.73 TMC water from the beginning of the rainy season, now the project was having 36.528 TMC water with an average of 7,000 cusecs inflows.

Irrigation officials were releasing 4,000 cusecs water to Kakatiya canal, 329 cusecs to Lakshmi canal, 540 cusecs to Alisagar lift irrigation scheme, 270 cusecs to Gutpa lift, 300 cusecs to Saraswathi canal and 412 cusecs are evaporation loses. Apart from it, 152 cusecs water releasing to mission Bhagiratha schemes.
