The Nehru Zoological Park celebrated the International Day of Forests with a tree planting program. At the event, the curator of the zoo, VVL Subhadra Devi, planted trees in the park.
International Day of Forests, established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations in 2012, aims to make the public aware of the values, meaning
and contributions of forests to balance the life cycle. The government networks and private organizations work together every day on this day to inform people about the importance of forests and the role they play in our ecology as well as the economy.
This year the theme of the International Day of Forests is ‘Forest Restoration: A Road to Recovery and Wellness’.
