The Hyderabad city is all warmed up to bend into an array of poses for a healthier lifestyle on the occasion of the ninth International Day of Yoga, observed on June 21, with various private and government-run institutes, departments and organisations organising events for mass participation.
Telangana state Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, addressing people a day ahead of the event, said, "This year’s theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ reflects our collective aspiration for ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’."
"The observance of International Day of Yoga aims to enhance public understanding of the numerous benefits that yoga offers. Yoga has been practised in India for thousands of years, encouraging regular meditation practice for mental clarity and self-awareness, which is essential for thriving in a stress-free environment.
I congratulate all the institutions organising events to observe
International Day of Yoga and urge everyone to practice yoga for personal well-being. Best wishes to the people of Telangana on the occasion of International Day of Yoga," the Governor said.
Political leaders are also gearing up to lead the yoga sessions at various locations.
Fisheries minister Parshottam Rupala will participate in the celebrations at Lakshminarasimha Reddy Garden in Kandi village of Sangareddy. The event here is scheduled to start at 6 am.
BJP leader Bandi Sanjay will participate in the event at Gurukul College in Ghatkesar of Medchal rural district. The event will begin at 6.30 am.
Another BJP leader K. Laxman will participate in the event at Samta Bhavan near Andhra Café, Gandhinagar, Musheerabad, from 7 am.
Yoga sessions have been organised throughout the city for public participation as well.
