Coming down heavily on the Congress government for undermining the sanctity of the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, which was launched by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to support poor families to get their daughters married, BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the practice of recovering crop loan dues from the financial assistance provided under the scheme, calling it a misuse of funds that has left many mothers of brides in distress.
Rama Rao questioned whether the government was functioning for discharging the responsibility of an administration or as a recovery agency. He pointed out that out of
the Rs 1 lakh provided under the scheme, Rs 60,000 was being taken by a bank, leaving only Rs 40,000 for the beneficiary in Adilabad district. He demanded answers from the Congress government, which claimed to have waived Rs 2 lakh in crop loans for everyone, and accused them of exploiting even the funds meant for the marriage of girls.
He urged Revanth Reddy to refrain from such actions and focus on genuine governance, emphasizing that it is disgraceful to misuse funds meant for such a noble cause. He called on the Congress government to address the real challenges faced by the people and deliver on their promises.
